conscio = Adriana Yellachich + Stephen Giumenta + Kristen Amato (nee Maslowski)
Stephen co-owns a 3rd generation family run metal fabrication factory in Brooklyn, NY. One day back in 2013 Adriana asked him to make her a cuff bracelet from the scrap metal at his factory to cover up a snowboarding scar she has on her right wrist. As Adriana is from Australia, Stephen decided to make her a "country cuff" that reflected her native country - it was the country of Australia laser cut out of stainless steel with a satin finish & she wore it proudly everywhere she went!
Fast forward to summer 2014 - we were at a mutual friend's wedding in Positano, Italy, Kristen was coveting Adriana's "aussie country cuff" over dinner - an idea and friendship quickly formed!
After many trips between Chicago and New York to set-up our company, the name conscio was decided upon since it is the Italian word for conscious and our tagline "jewelry with a conscience" was finalized - conscio was born...
With Stephen's keen sense of design and manufacturing capabilities, Adriana's background in brand marketing, and Kristen's extensive sales and jewelry experience, a true team was built.

WHAT

conscio is a creative and innovative collaboration between 3 individuals with unique skill sets who wanted to design and craft beautiful jewelry that was conscious of using resource material that was not taxing on the environment or manufacturing process

WHY

conscio is the Italian word for conscious, we selected it to pay homage to the country we were in when we conceptualized our partnership and ensuing friendship, as well as being a direct reference to the types of materials we source for our jewelry line

WHEN

conscio was conceived over a mutual friend's wedding weekend during the summer of 2014 in Positano, Italy and involved a custom cuff bracelet that Stephen had made for Adriana - as you can imagine good food & plenty of red wine was consumed...the rest is history as they say!
HOW

conscio is proud to use only scrap materials in designing and crafting our jewelry line - all of our materials are locally sourced in Brooklyn, NY, with the primary being leftover stainless steel and brass from Stephen's family company, Architectural Grille
