About

Alejandra Remijio is a visual concept and home accessory designer.

An association with a local kitchen store transformed this veteran NYC fashion industry professional into a table linen designer.

“A kitchen store wanted me to create a line of table linens. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I took a leap of faith and started to source fabric and make what I thought would sell. When it did, I knew I was on my path.”

Her family’s influences are the strength of Copper Colored Gal Designs.

An eye for exceptional quality, detail and elegance were instilled in her by her mother’s exposure to the fashions of Mexico’s store window’s in the 1950’s.

Her maternal grandmother was a convent educated seamstress, who did bead and appliqué work on wedding dresses for extra income. “My mother would tell me stories of how my grandmother would make clothes for her from just a verbal description and a few yards of fabric.”

“I took a beginning sewing class in the 7th grade. I had so much fun learning about the sewing machine that my father bought one for my sister and I.”

Her grandmother came to visit one summer and they then worked to make a matching vest and skirt for her upcoming school year. “I was hooked after that!”

After many years of experience in New York City which included working with luxury retailers, couture designers, traveling and expanding her skills, this unique opportunity opened the door for Alejandra to create Copper Colored Gal Designs.

Copper Colored Gal, designs one of a kind and limited edition table linens and accessories. Rich and unique fabrics of cotton & silk are collected from various sources. Trims are then added to enhance the design. They are hand cut and machine sewn by Alejandra in her Brooklyn studio.
